Christmas Countdown Day 21

December 21st is the first day of winter and also the shortest day of the year. It gets darker sooner as we start the winter months.

Take a moment to light some candles and make the evening warm and inviting.

Get comfy on the couch

as you enjoy the quiet time before the rush of Christmas sets in.
Enjoy a good book with a cup of your favorite coffee, hot cocoa, or tea.

This quiet time can be exactly what you need tonight to recharge your batteries before the Christmas festivities start.

Christmas Countdown Day 13

About halfway through the Christmas season, we reach a point of being so busy that we start to get tired in the middle of the day.  Pace yourself, take a nap and enjoy the moment because Christmas comes once a year and if you blink you may miss it. Grab your blanket and sit in front of the tree

to read or listen to music while enjoying a cup of hot cocoa or tea.  If you find time every night to wind down, you will enjoy the season longer.

Merry Christmas!!

Christmas Countdown Day 8

During Christmas time there are many recipes for drinks that people make and it brings back the memories of Christmas pasts. A longtime favorite is hot cocoa, it is a drink for all ages.

This weekend as the temperatures chill, yes,  I know Florida chill as compared to our Northern friends is a big difference, make some hot cocoa

and take some time to sit and look at the Christmas tree or sit by the fireplace.

Enjoy the chill in the air, and just simply live life.

Life is so short to live it in a rush and worrying about all the things that need to be done.

Here is an old fashioned hot cocoa recipe:

Heat 3/4 cup milk in a saucepan over medium heat unti just before boiling.  Remove from heat and transfer to a large mug.  Stir in 1 ounce coarsely chopped bittersweet or semisweet chocolate pieces.  Let stand about 30 seconds then stir to combine.
