Happy New Year 2018

As you think about New Year’s Resolutions and goals this year, take one to heart. Make 2018 the year of picking up the phone and talking to someone instead of texts and emails all the time. Be purposeful in setting time for coffee and lunch with a friend. You may not reach 100 people but at the end of the day isn’t it better to have 5 people who are close to you than 100 people that you can’t tell anyone what their first and last name is and what they enjoy doing for fun? Happy New Year 2018.

Christmas Countdown Day 22

What a great gift I received for my birthday yesterday.  My BFF invited me out to lunch and some last minute shopping at the mall.

When I arrived at the mall I was thinking about how crowded it may be but in the late morning on a Friday it was not overpacked at all.  It was pleasant to stroll through the mall and be greeted with a smile from a gentleman that had the look of love in his eyes as he was leaving the mall with a little package from Tiffanys.

I then passed a gentleman with a shopping bag from Prada beaming from ear to ear as he quickly walked around the mall.

I continued to make my way to the restaurant passing yet another gentleman on the phone sharing his treasure with someone on the phone about his gift from Louis Vuitton.

As I approached Tiffany’s I saw two more gentlemen with little bags from Tiffany’s.   I glanced into Tiffany’s to see the store filled with male shoppers, talking with the salespeople.

As I proceeded on my journey I looked around and saw mostly men shopping and started to think to myself about the first few people that I saw with their special gifts they selected for their significant others.  Not everyone, of course, can spend the prices that Tiffanys, Prada, or Louis Vuitton charge, however when it comes time to selecting a gift for that special someone, it is not the price but the thought that comes from your heart and how you present it.

A simple card that says you love someone and the gift of time may be the gift that will always be remembered.  So this Christmas whether you can afford a gift for that special someone or you can’t due to circumstances, take the time to write a beautiful love letter about the way you feel towards that special someone.  Really put some thought into what is in your heart, your significant other will treasure that forever.

I finally made it to my lunch with my BFF and realized that we all need days like this to share lunch, dinner, a cup of coffee, or tea with those near to our heart and cultivate those relationships.

Christmas Countdown Day 12

Have you ever baked Christmas cookies?  It is a lot of fun right, well for those that can bake them.  I know that baking desserts are more of my forte, but the cookie department is another story.  I have memories of baking slice and bake and burning them lol! But the fun part is always, of course, eating them and spending that quality time with the kids and your spouse, sister, mother or friend.  Make the most of your time with those you love today.  Happy baking!!!

Christmas Countdown Day 7

Today take a moment to reach out to others.  Christmas although a wonderful time of the year for most,  is a very lonely time for others.  Some people may have lost their spouse, gone through a divorce, break up, estranged family members, personal or family battling an illness, or just lonely because they do not have anyone in their life that is close.  These can all be hard times for people during a time that should be a joyous occasion.  Although everyone is busy this time of year,  make it an effort to call and speak to someone that you have not called in a while.  Call someone that can use a cheerful voice and let them know that you are thinking about them.

Take a moment to take a friend out for coffee or tea.

Another way to make someone’s day is to take a moment and join a community activity like a tree lighting ceremony,

Christmas community play, or working volunteer hours at a place that is close to your heart.  The important thing is to reach out to others, everyone needs someone.

Christmas Countdown Day 2

Part of the fun of celebrating Christmas is wrapping the treasures that you have found for family and friends.

This year as you wrap your gifts think about each person that you have bought a gift for and take a moment to remember a special memory about that person; write that special memory on their Christmas card as an added gift.

As you wrap gifts, remember to wrap on a table or countertop so as not to strain your back and neck wrapping on the floor.
